A baby may get their first tooth around the age of 6 to 10 months, and have a full set of 20 baby teeth when they are 3 years old. Recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) have been utilized to develop advice for parents and caregivers on how to take care of baby teeth and proper pacifier use. Parents are encouraged to use a separate spoon when tasting baby food, and to clean a pacifier with water to prevent sharing of bacteria. Wean baby from the bottle by 12 to 14 months of age.
