Three sections are featured - whole grain breakfast ideas, switching to whole grains when cooking, and yummy snacks. Lots of ideas in a small, easy to read colorful book!
Breakfast ideas include enjoying a bowl of whole grain cereal or oatmeal; making overnight oatmeal cups or oatmeal pancakes; or toasting whole grain bread, bagels or English muffins to eat with eggs or peanut butter.
Whole grains are also used to make healthy meals by switching to whole grains instead of refined grains. Meal ideas include brown rice in a casserole, stir fry, chicken rice soup, Spanish rice, burritos and rice bowls. Easy ideas for whole grain pasta in spaghetti, soup and salad are featured. Whole grain sandwiches can be made with a whole wheat bun, pita, toast or bread. Whole wheat and corn tortillas are featured in burritos, tacos and quesadillas.
Yummy snacks are made with whole wheat crackers, hummus, cheese, peanut butter and slices of fruits and veggies; and mini pizzas on whole grain English muffins or toast.
